Through Lifeline, a Government program, Choice Wireless® helps low-income consumers establish and maintain telephone service by lowering the cost of basic, monthly local service.

Program and Qualifications
The Choice Wireless LIFELINE service provides a FREE phone and 250 FREE local minutes of calling and 100 text messages every month to help families in need.
You can qualify for Lifeline in New Mexico if you meet the following requirements:
1. If you get assistance from one or more of the following programs:
- Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
- Tribal General Assistance*
- Food Stamps
- Medicaid
- Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Head Start*
- National School Free Lunch Program (must qualify for free lunch)
- Navajo Nation Program for Self Reliance*
- Federal Public Housing Assistance

2. If your total gross annual household income is at or below 150% of the federally-established poverty levels set forth for the number of persons in your household.

If you qualify based on total household income, you must provide one or more of the documents listed below:
- Prior year’s state, federal or tribal tax return
- Retirement Pension benefit statement
- Social Security benefits statement
- Divorce decree or child support document
- Veterans Administration benefits statement
- Unemployment/Workers Compensation benefits statement
- Federal or tribal notice letter of participation in Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
- Current year-to-date earnings statement from employer or three consecutive months’ worth of paycheck stubs from the previous 12 Months
